Cyclepaths
Council has recently decided to promote cycling as a healthy alternative transport system. The Fairfield Bicycle Club will provide co-ordinated activities for residents wanting to ride a bike. Bikes will be available for use for a small charge. Bicycles will be repaired at a new site at the Fairfield Showground. For further information contact Council's Road Safety Education Officer on 9725 0717 or email mail@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au
There are three main regional routes east/west across the City:
- Prospect Creek shared path connects to the Holroyd City network and Fairfield Town Centre and is approximately 5 kilometres in length.
- Bay to Mountains (Orphan School Creek) shared path connects to Mirambeena Regional Park, Bankstown and to Prospect Reservoir, Blacktown and is approximately 20 kilometres in length.
- Council has recently completed stages 1 to 3 of the Cabramatta Creek shared path, which has added to the overall distance.
- A minor shared path comes off the Bay to Mountains network in King Park, Wakeley and connects to Cowpasture Road via St Johns Park. This route is approximately 7 kilometres in length.
There are two regional routes that travel north/south through the City:
- Rail Trail cycleway connects Parramatta to Liverpool and links to Prospect Creek and the Bay to Mountains shared path network. It will also connect to the Cabramatta Creek shared path when the next stages are completed. It is approximately 7.5 kilometres in length.
- T-Way cycleway connects Parramatta to Liverpool and links to the Bay to Mountains and the St Johns Park shared path networks. The whole system across the City is approx 80-90 kilometres. The Bay to Mountains also connects to the Rail Trail.
- The Cowpasture Road shared path connects Elizabeth Drive to The Horsley Drive, which also links to the Bay to Mountains, St Johns Park and the T-Way networks. It is approximately 8 kilometres in length.
There are also circuit paths in some of Council’s local parks, ie Brenan and Springfield Parks.

Western Sydney Cycling Network - Hire a bike and and explore Fairfield City!
Fairfield City Council has launched an innovative health and transport project that offers local residents the chance to loan unused bicycles that have been repaired and maintained. The project, entitled the Western Sydney Cycling Network, is the first of its kind in NSW and promotes cycling as a healthy recreational activity and an effective means of transport for short distance trips. Bicyles are available for loan by members of the community, free of charge. Residents who would like to borrow a bicycle need to pay a one-off fee of $25, which includes a high quality helmet which they can keep.

The Western Sydney Cycling Network (WSCN) aims to promote cycling and to provide a bicycle recycling service to the community.
The following services are currently provided:
Free Community Bike Rides
Held on the first Sunday of every month these rides are led by experienced local cyclists and are designed to familiarise riders with the local cycle routes and features of the area.
All rides depart from the Western Sydney Cycling Network Clubhouse which is on the site of the Fairfield City Showground – the nearest entrance is via Moonlight Road.
Ride departs at 9.30am sharp and cyclists should plan to arrive at the Clubhouse by 9am to sign on and check over their bike for safety.
A sausage sizzle is held at the Clubhouse following each ride.
We hope that you will join us as a Club Member and help us to grow cycling for both recreation and commuting in the Fairfield area.

Bicycle recycling
The Western Sydney Cycling Network accepts donations of disused bicycles to recycle for community use.
Volunteers work on bikes to return them to a standard for reuse on a community loan system.
We are currently open every Sunday 10am – 12noon for the loaning of bicycles.
We are always looking for people to be a part of this exciting project.
There are a number of ways that you can be involved such as:
- Let us train you to fix broken bikes for community loan
- Come along on our free community bicycle rides
- Train as a Ride Leader
- Train as a Cycling Coach
- Help other volunteers to manage the loan of the bikes to the public
- Set up a cycling group based upon your peers – for example Senior Cycling
The opportunities for community participation in this project are only limited by imagination.
The Western Sydney Cycling Network meets on the last Wednesday of every month, 7.30pm at the Western Sydney Cycling Network Clubhouse at Fairfield Showground.
