Living the Past
We bring history to life at Fairfield City Museum and Gallery.
"Living the Past" offers students a wide range of learning experiences including writing with pen and ink in a replica school room, watching a blacksmith at work, shopping with pounds, shillings and pence, learning about Washing Day and much more. Local volunteers conduct the "Living the Past" program and take students through buildings that illustrate Australia and Fairfield City's history.
The program influences students to gain an understanding of life between the 1880s and 1930s. A Primary School Education Program, written specifically for the NSW primary school curriculum. The program includes plenty of "hands on" activities and challenges that relate to the school curriculum. Students may like to come in historical costume and bring a camera, as there are countless enjoyable moments to record.
