How To Join The Library

Membership is free.

Fill in the application form at any branch and show proof of name and proof of address.

A parent/guardian signature is required if the applicant is under 18.

Report any lost card immediately as you are liable should others use your lost card illegally.

Report your change of address immediately.
Borrowing Details

The loan period is 21 days for most items.

You are responsible for any items borrowed on your card.

Borrowed items remain the property of Fairfield City Council.

Adults can borrow up to 50 items which may include 30 books and magazines and 10 videos. Multimedia formats such as kits, DVD's and audio books are generally limited to 2 per person.

Children can borrow 12 books, 2 magazines, 2 children's videos and 2 children's DVDs.

No more than 5 items can be reserved (or waiting to be picked up) on your account, excluding magazines, videos and DVD's which cannot be reserved.

Items can be renewed only twice.

Items cannot be renewed if others have reserved them.

Overdue charges apply.

You will not be allowed to borrow if you have 4 items overdue or have more than ten dollars ($10) in fines.
Overdue Fines/Lost Cards/Damaged Items
If you return your books late you may have to pay a fine. Fine charges are not levied on public holidays. Fines are not imposed for loans on children's cards.
How To Avoid Fines

Return all items on time.

Renew all items before the due date.

Take good care of the items so they are not damaged or lost.

Report any damage immediately.

Report lost cards immediately.
Overdue Fines
Note: Charges are not levied for days on which the library is not open.
Fines are not imposed for loans on childrens cards.
Cards
Your first library card is free however there is a charge for replacing a lost card.
