The Library catalogue now displays titles of Chinese books in Chinese characters - using Chinese characters or Pinyin.  Ask the staff for assistance.
English Conversation Classes
Did you know that the Fairfield City Library holds FREE English Conversation Classes for those who need to meet others and practice their English under the supervision of a trained tutor.

Carers NSW     
The Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care has funded Carers NSW to translate four popular carer fact sheets in to 15 community languages plus English.

Website of the Federation of Ethnic Communities Councils of Australia - a national body.
Has information in 21 languages and referral contact addresses from all over Australia.

The Multilingual Glossary database is a professionally generated signage tool designed for libraries. The glossary contains common library phrases in 49 languages. This tool facilitates communication between library staff and patrons from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

MyDr      
This site assists you to search for a range of health professionals including GPs, Specialists, Pharmacists and Dieticians by language, gender, area (suburb or all of NSW) and specialisation. You can also search for Optometrists and Physios, but there isn't a language search option for these.

Provides access to search engines, web directories and news in over sixty languages. MyLanguage is a partnership between the State Libraries of NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, and WA and the NT and ACT Library and Information Services.
Provides pamphlets on subjects including diabetes, exercise, pregnancy, medication and health services.  Available in a variety of languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Italian, Korean, Macedonian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Common diseases and health related issues such as immunization information in a range of languages other than English.

Russian Connection

This website is an independent and comprehensive guide to cultural events and occasions with a Russian flavour. We feature events across a number of topics, including Art Exhibitions, Ballet, Classical Music, Concerts, Festivals, Kids events, Movies, Musical, Lectures, Opera, and Theatre. We also aim to tell you about selected social events within the Russian speaking community.
