Enviro Bootcamp 2019 - School holiday program
Fairfield City Council would like to invite you to be a part of the Enviro Bootcamp this school holidays.
The Enviro Bootcamp is a free, fun and interactive environmental education program designed for children aged between 5 to 12 years run by experienced and enthusiastic Council officers.
The Enviro Bootcamp is scheduled to run from 30 September to 11 October 2019 at Nalawala Sustainability Hub, Fairfield Showground.
Topics and activities include:
Critters in Creeks - Children will catch and identify critters living in our creek and how they make our creeks healthy.
Cooking with Leftovers – Children will learn about the importance of not wasting food and will get an opportunity to cook with food items that are generally thrown out.
Energy Sustainability - Children will learn how to be more energy conscious and learn how to reduce their energy consumption. Children will do a few science experiments using sustainable products and robots.
Native Flora Bush Walk – Children will go on a bush walk to learn about the native plants and animals found in the local area and ways to protect them.
Nature Photography – A photography workshop where children will go out into the field and look how full sun, part sun and shade affect their nature pictures.
- Recycled Art Fun Day – Participants get to create their own arts and craft projects using recycled materials and their imagination turning junk into something funky.
- Garbage Truck Tour - see how a recycling truck works. We will also look at what happens to your rubbish once it goes into the bin.
- Repurposing Clothes - enjoy repurposing old clothes into new accessories. Make placemats, hair accessories, bags and lots more from an old t-shirt!
- Plant Propagation - be shown how to propagate both native plants and vegetables.
Registrations are required as there are limited spaces per workshop. No vacation care groups are admitted to the workshops.
