Rural Area - Land Use Planning Issues

The Rural areas (Horsley Park & Cecil Park) of Fairfield have been subject to growing pressures as a result of the State Government's planning for expansion of the Western Sydney Employment Lands (including proposed arterial roads through the area) and by the Federal Government's decision to proceed with Sydney's second airport at Badgerys Creek.

Given the airport's potential impacts on the rural area, Council's Outcomes Committee of 10 February 2015 resolved to defer any studies of the rural area until the Environmental Impact Statement by the Federal Government is released (and the outcome of the proposed airport is known) so that future studies can be better informed.
