Rural Area - Land Use Planning Issues
The Rural areas (Horsley Park & Cecil Park) of Fairfield have been subject to growing pressures as a result of the State Government's planning for expansion of the Western Sydney Employment Lands (including proposed arterial roads through the area) and by the Federal Government's decision to proceed with Sydney's second airport at Badgerys Creek.
Council has engaged consultants to undertake a land capability study that responds to the designation of the Fairfield Rural Lands as an Urban Investigation Area under the Greater Sydney Region Plan and the Western City District Plan, released by the Greater Sydney Commission in 2018. Proposals consisting of various options for future development have been identified.
The options for future development of the Fairfield Rural Lands Urban Investigation Area covering the suburbs of Horsley Park and Cecil Park will be on public exhibition from Friday 9 November 2018 to Friday 8 February 2019.
The Urban Capability Assessment and three draft Structure Plan Options. They can be viewed on Council’s website under “Have Your Say” and at Council’s Administration Centre at 86 Avoca Road, Wakeley during office hours 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
An interactive link is also available under “Have Your Say” on Council’s website where you can view detailed information about land uses constraints (as identified in the Urban Capability Assessment) relevant to individual properties.
