These July School Holidays children can enjoy a range of fun activities. From abstract painting and zine making, to cardboard bonsai workshops and working with clay! There is something for everyone. 

Cardboard Bonsai

Tuesday 9 July
10.30am – 12.00pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 6 – 12
Have you always wanted to create your own little village - with mountains, a farm or a sunflower garden? Using found and recycled materials, design your own miniature world in this bonsai-inspired workshop.

Wallets and Purses Children’s Workshop

Wednesday 10 July
10.30am – 12.00pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 6 – 12
Design and make your very own colourful felt wallet or purse for yourself or as a gift for someone special.

Jungle Animal Themed Cupcakes

Wednesday 10 July
1.00pm – 2.30pm
Cost: $16 per participant
Ages: 8 – 15
Make and decorate your own delicious cupcakes with master baker Karina Santilan. Every participant will take away four of their own creations.

Abstract Painting

Thursday 11 July
10.30am – 12.00pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 6 – 14
Children and teens will explore using a variety of paints and pre-made ceramic pieces to create their own unique abstract artwork on canvas.

Zine Making

Friday 12 July
10.30am – 12.00pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 6 – 10
Cut, stick, paste and get crafty in this hands on zine making workshop! Learn all about the world of zines - self-published, DIY, small run publications - and then create your own using collage techniques, drawing and text. You will leave with your own unique zine and with the tools to do it yourself again and again! All materials will be provided, but you can bring your favourite stationery, ribbons or stickers from home for extra sparkle.

Precious Portraits

Tuesday 16 July

Ages: 8 – 12
Make a portrait of someone special in your life (bring a photo if you think it will help you).

Clay Animals

Tuesday 16 July

Ages: 6 – 9
Make and paint your own ceramic animal inspired by a pet or your favourite animal.

Spray Painting with Stencils

Wedesday 17 July
1.00pm – 2.30pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 12 – 15
Students will learn to cut stencils and use spray paint to create layered graphic effects. Working with FCMG Artist in Residence Tracey Clement, students will make 3D models of buildings. These buildings will be exhibited at FCMG in October - students will be given full credit and everyone is invited to the show!

Portraits in Watercolour and Pastel

Thursday 18 July
10.30am – 12.00pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: 8 – 14
Children and teens will experiment with watercolour and chalk pastels to create a vibrant and colourful portrait to take home.

Zine Making (2 hour workshop)

Saturday 20 July
1.30pm – 3.30pm
Cost: $8 per participant
Ages: Teenage to adults
Cut, stick, paste and get crafty in this hands-on zine making workshop!
Learn all about the world of zines and create your own using collage techniques, drawing and text. You will learn the foundations of zine making and leave with tips on how to print and connect to a zine community to get your zines out in the world. You will leave with your own unique zine and a kit with the tools to do it yourself again and again!
What to bring:
Ideas for your zine (if you don't have an idea, a theme can be provided on the day).
All materials will be provided, but you can bring your favourite stationery, ribbons or stickers from home for extra sparkle.

BOOKING CONDITIONS FOR WORKSHOPS: Payments accepted by cash, cheque or money order. EFTPOS is available. Any cancellations made less than one week before workshop date will not be entitled to a refund. Payment is required to secure your place and must be received at least 24 hours before the workshop. No refunds for missed classes.
