Fairfield City Museum & Gallery

Mayor with Museum and Gallery volunteer
Mayor of Fairfield City, Frank Carbone, with one of FCMG's Living the Past program volunteers

Fairfield City Museum and Gallery requires people who have a love of history and education that can help us deliver our primary school education programme throughout the year.

The Living the Past education program and is an interactive and exploration workshop of our unique Vintage Village site and is designed for Stage 1 HSIE students.  The outcomes and content of the program connects to the strands of Change and Continuity and Cultures and is offered every Tuesday and Thursday, from March to the end of November during school term.

Volunteers are required to commit at least to one half day a fortnight, either a Tuesday or Thursday, from 9am to 1.30pm to guide young primary students through structured activities in our historic site.  All new volunteers will be trained and mentored by experienced staff before they deliver the program.

This experience we offer is a great way to see how local museums and galleries engage their communities as well as, teach young people to value and understand our diverse cultural heritage.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact our Museum Coordinator and Education Officer on 97250190 or by email caiello@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au.
