Multiculturalism and Diversity

Events and Celebrations

Council supports local organisations with celebrations and events that are self-determined and encourage community participation and community cohesion.

Refugee Week Celebration

Refugee Week is Australia’s peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. Each year Council enters into partnership with local agencies to celebrate this event.

Harmony Day Celebration

Harmony Day is held every year on 21 March and celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Fairfield City Council celebrates Harmony Day at its Fairfield City Museum & Gallery through the annual Living Cultures Festival.

For more information on these celebrations, check the events calendar or contact Fairfield City Council’s Community Project Officer – Multicultural via email at mail@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au or call 9725 0222.
