Cheque presentation to Braeside Hospital

Tonight, I am pleased to present a cheque for $3,036.20 to HammondCare, thanks to the generosity of our community which will go towards a fresh food kitchen at Braeside Hospital.

This year, Fairfield City Council’s Moon Festival raised $2,621.40 for the Braeside Hospital Fresh Food Kitchen from the sale of rice donated by Royal Umbrella Rice (Amyson) with volunteer support from the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society's Youth Team.

An additional $414.80 was raised at Council’s Good Food Month event in Cabramatta in October. 2015 Masterchef Australia contestant Reynold Poernom and local businesses came together to raise funds through their food tastings.

Braeside Hospital is based in Prairiewood, on the grounds of Fairfield Hospital and provides inpatient, outpatient and community services including rehabilitation, dementia and palliative care and older persons’ mental health. Braeside is owned and operated by HammondCare.

The donation will go towards building a fresh food kitchen at the Braeside Hospital premises, which will allow for meals to be prepared, cooked and served on-site. Currently meals are transported from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to Braeside.

I would like to invite HammondCare representative, Mr Julian Martin to come forward and accept this cheque on behalf of the HammondCare Foundation.

Councillors, please join me in congratulating HammondCare Foundation.
