Trucks in Residential Streets
Trucks of more than 4.5 tonnes GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) may not park in a built-up area (including a residential street) for more than one hour unless engaged in loading or unloading or some other lawful purpose.
Vehicles over 4.5 tonnes (such as tow trucks, semi-trailers, prime movers, earthmoving machinery, large rigid trucks, and large table-top trucks) are prohibited from parking in residential areas.
For more information on heavy vehicle restrictions in residential areas, refer to Regulation 200 of the Australian Road Rules.
Officers may send the registered owner a warning letter requesting that the truck be moved or, when appropriate, fines may be directly issued.
