Parks and Outdoors

Fairfield City boasts 300 parks, gardens and sportsfields, as well as one of the most extensive cycleway networks in NSW with more than 90 kilometres of cycling paths that traverse beautiful waterways, nature reserves and connect key town centres and visitor destinations. 

In addition to four major parks with playgrounds, picnic shelters and restrooms, other great natural spaces in Fairfield City include Western Sydney Parklands, multiple golf courses and Chipping Norton Lake.

Bonnyrigg Park

Located in the heart of Bonnyrigg opposite a key T-Way rapid bus interchange, Bonnyrigg Park is easily accessible and features an array of great facilities for younger children and teens. The park includes a Bush Tucker Path which meanders through native vegetation and alongside wetlands with waterfowl and other critters. Walk towards Bibbys Place and you can also take in a taste of the City's culture by visiting various places of worship all in one cul-de-sac.

Cabravale Memorial Park

Nestled between Cabramatta and Canley Vale town centres, the more than 100-year old Cabravale Memorial Park features lush green lawns, playground, outdoor exercise equipment, basketball court, table tennis courts, toilet facilities and a heritage bandstand.

Chipping Norton Lake

The waterways of Chipping Norton Lake and the Georges River are ideal for picnicking, children's play, watersports and birdwatching, as well as recreational pursuits including kayaking, fishing, swimming, while the track which hems the edge of the idyllic foreshore is great for walking, jogging and cycling. 
Location: Parking and boat ramps located along Silverwater Crescent, Lansvale and the end of Hollywood Drive, Lansvale. 

 

Fairfield Golf Course

Neighbouring Fairfield Showground is Fairfield Golf Course, with social games available for up to 18 holes among patches of beautiful native trees that create spectacularly shaped shadows across the lush greens. For the not so experienced, book ahead for a lesson and see if you've got the knack to become pro.

Fairfield Park Precinct

The Fairfield Park Precinct off Vine Street in Fairfield is a place for the entire family to get fit, enjoy the great outdoors and have fun. The precinct includes Fairfield Leisure Centre with indoor and outdoor pools, Fairfield Youth and Community Centre with rockclimbing and trampolining facilities, the acclaimed Fairfield Adventure Park, Fairfield Obstacle Course and beautiful shared walking and cycling paths along Orphan School Creek.

Wetherill Park Reserve

Developed as a 16 acre urban park and nature reserve, the large district park features shaded picnic areas, barbeques, toilets and children's playgrounds surrounded by lush native vegetation. A walking circuit meanders through woodland which includes Forest Red Gum, Paperbarks and Bottlebrush, serving as habitat for many native birds such as magpies, galahs, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and Eastern Rosellas.

Western Sydney Parklands

Home to beautiful bushland, cute critters and family friendly play and barbeque facilities, the 5,280 hectare Western Sydney Parklands is the largest urban parkland system in Australia, and one of the largest in the world. Key attractions in the Fairfield City parklands area include Calmsley Hill City Farm and TreeTop Adventure ParkThe Dairy is great for barbeques and picnics along with Lizard Log and Plough and Harrow, with the latter two featuring large playgrounds. The Parklands are also home to regular events and festivals.
