Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone has declared Council’s NSW Bike Week event a major success.
“There was overwhelming positive feedback from participants of Council’s NSW Bike Week event, Tour de Fairfield,” Mayor Carbone said.
“It was a huge success for participants who were able to enjoy a scenic ride through some of our City’s most beautiful parks, taking in the great outdoors, making new friends and learning about some of the City’s historical sites.”
Close to 40 people from across the community joined Western Sydney Cycling Network ride leaders for Tour de Fairfield.
“People from all walks of life took part in the 20km round trip from Fairfield Showground to the Fairfield Adventure Park Precinct.”
“The event wasn’t just about highlighting our City’s outstanding cycling infrastructure, but also providing the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate one of our City’s greatest strengths in person; our diversity.
“I’d like to thank everyone who participated and helped to make the event such a huge success, especially to Western Sydney Cycling Network volunteers who provide free bike support and run cycling events from Council’s Bike Hub at Fairfield Showground.”
More than 90km of cycleways have been constructed by Council to date, giving people a safe and healthy alternative to driving when traveling around Fairfield City.
“We want to ensure people have fun, healthy and safe ways to getting around our City,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Council has invested heavily in cycling paths, shared and circuit walking paths and outdoor fitness equipment to help residents get out and about and to achieve their fitness goals wherever they live.”
