Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone has today announced the recipient of the Fairfield City Museum & Gallery (FCMG) 2017 Artist in Residence (AiR) program.
“It is my pleasure to announce Linda Brescia as the successful artist of the 2017 AiR program,” Mayor Carbone said. “I look forward to seeing Linda’s work exhibited at FCMG in late 2018.”
Ms Brescia, an Abbotsbury resident, said she was excited to be selected as the 2017 AiR.
“I was very pleased and honoured to be named FCMG’s new AiR. This is a wonderful opportunity and I’m keen to engage with the Fairfield City community,” Ms Brescia said.
“The residency offers an exciting opportunity to create new work and I am looking forward to letting the space, collection and community inspire me.”
Ms Brescia is a multidisciplinary artist who has produced painting, video, photography and installation work, which has been exhibited in galleries across NSW and Victoria.
“Linda Brescia produced a stand-out submission that aptly reflects the aims of FCMG’s successful AiR program,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Established in 2012, the AiR program ensures artists are given an opportunity to strengthen their skills and processes, as well as to connect with the community and showcase our City’s incredible diversity.”
The successful AiR will work in a dedicated studio space at FCMG for three months and their artistic efforts will be exhibited at FCMG’s Stein Gallery in late 2018.
2016 AiR Loribelle Spirovski’s solo exhibition Diaspora was officially opened on Saturday 23 September at FCMG.
