Join the fiesta at Culinary Carnivale

There’s only a few more sleeps until Fairfield's renowned street party Culinary Carnivale hits town this Saturday (21 October) from 11am – 4pm.
With a delicious smorgasbord of Spanish and Latin American food fare and an outstanding line up of free entertainment, headlined by iconic indigenous performer Christine Anu, now is the time to get your salsa and mambo on and enjoy La Vida Buena (the good life).
This ever-popular annual event has become a star attraction of the annual Good Food Month and has been described as “the best thing to do in Sydney in October”.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said: “Culinary Carnivale is a signature event, attracting visitors from far and wide to enjoy the food and be enthralled by the colourful family friendly entertainment.
“The line-up of entertainment is our best yet and has a mix of everything from traditional and contemporary that is sure to interest all ages and members of the family,” Mayor Carbone said.
The free entertainment line-up includes:
- Christine Anu
- Uruguayan drumming and dancing of Comparsa Urumbe
- breathtaking dancing of the Latin Stars Samba Troops
- the traditional sounds of Sonido De Los Andes
- the ever popular Victor Valdes Y Su Mariachi
- dancers Tierra Colombiana
- musicians Los Pibes
- eclectic fusion artist Quetzal Guerrero, and
- awe-inspiring acrobatics of Dauntless Movement Crew
- free amusement rides
While watching the entertainment and feeling the Latin rhythm, visitors can enjoy beef and pork choripan and ribs served with chimichurri cooked to perfection the South American way.
Also available will be mouth-watering seafood paella, empanadas, arepas, tapas, tacos and tamales, and famous South American sweets such as alfajores, caramel dulce de leche, churros with chocolate dipping sauce and gelato.
There will also be free amusement rides throughout the day in Ware Street, free mask making brought to you by Fairfield City Museum and Gallery and a prize giveaway at about 12.25pm at the performance stage of a water filter, donated by Filpure Water.
Culinary Carnivale is on Saturday 21 October in Spencer and Ware streets Fairfield from 11am-4pm. Entry and entertainment to Culinary Carnivale are free.
