Fairfield City Council’s third annual New Year’s Eve celebration, Illuminate, has been declared a spectacular show for families in South West Sydney.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said the event, which includes the largest collective fireworks display in South West Sydney across seven sites, was a huge success.

“Illuminate continues to remain the best family friendly event for New Year’s Eve in Sydney, with free entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Our Illuminate celebrations at Calmsley Hill City Farm were a huge hit for local families, showcasing exactly why this year’s tickets were booked out in record time.”

“Families were treated to a brilliant line-up of entertainment, which culminated in the biggest collective fireworks display in all of South West Sydney.”

Free entertainment included multiple stage performances, amusement rides, roving entertainment, children’s activities and food stalls. Calmsley Hill City Farm’s animal exhibits and stock whip demonstrations added to the magic of the event.

“Our headline act, children’s entertainment group Hi-5, provided high-energy performances that had children and parents on their feet dancing, while many children enjoyed the free amusement rides, returning again and again with friends in tow,” Mayor Carbone said.

“The event concluded with a fantastic multi-site fireworks display at 9pm in conjunction with fireworks at six clubs around the City, which ensured families who missed out on tickets to Illuminate were able to watch fireworks from the comfort of their own backyard.”

“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank the six participating clubs and all the individuals involved in making Illuminate 2017 a resounding success.”

“We now look forward to an exciting year ahead for Fairfield City Council as we continue to provide many great events and services for the families of Fairfield City to enjoy.”

Participating clubs included Cabramatta Bowling Club, Cabra-Vale Diggers Club, Club Marconi, Fairfield RSL, Mounties and Smithfield RSL.
