Fairfield remains stand alone

The NSW State Government announced its decision on the future of local councils. Fairfield City Council will stand alone.
Fairfield is one of three metropolitan councils that were originally earmarked for proposed mergers that have now won their fight to stand alone.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said this was welcoming news for everyone.
“Fairfield City Council always listened when 91 per cent of our community told Council that they did not want to amalgamate with Liverpool Council,” Mayor Carbone said.
“This is a win for democracy and for the community of Fairfield.
“I would like to thank the community for their continued support. This means that Fairfield will retain its local identity and already low rates.
“As the Mayor I will continue to focus on providing the unique infrastructure projects that make Fairfield City an even greater place.”
