Fairfield City Museum and Gallery is inviting artists to submit expressions of interest for its 2016 Fairfield Artist in Residence program.

The Residency will be available for 12 weeks between September 2016 and February 2017 and will result in a three-month exhibition in the Stein Gallery in May 2017.

This Residency is open to artists from across Australia and internationally, with preference given to artists living and working in Western Sydney. A range of artforms are suitable for the residency, including (but not limited to) visual art, sculpture, installation, screen, digital and new media art, mixed media and photography. (Please note: We cannot cover flight or accommodation costs for international artists.)

The Museum and Gallery will provide $5,000 Artist Fees for the three-month residency, up to $2,000 towards materials, a three-month exhibition in our Stein Gallery to showcase work (in-kind value $10,000), production of a catalogue, marketing and promotion, and a dedicated studio from which to work (available from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm).

We encourage applications that respond to Fairfield City’s culturally diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and identities – past, present and future – and that engage with our Vintage Village site and/or our unique social history collection.

Applications are due by Friday 11 March 2016.
