Bossley Park Preschool now open
Published Thursday, 7th November 2019
Accessing affordable, quality preschool is now easier for families in and around Bossley Park with the opening of a new $1.4 million Council-run preschool.
Bossley Park Preschool, constructed in the grounds of Bossley Park Public School on Bossley Road, was officially opened by Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone on Thursday, 7 November.
The preschool, which was funded through the NSW Department of Education’s capital works program, replaces the 20-place mobile preschool that previously operated out of a classroom at the school.
The service now offers an extra 100 sessions of preschool per week to the community and will provide a quality preschool program to 80 children every week.
Mayor Carbone said Council is committed to providing a quality service which delivers affordable preschool education, with prices starting from as little as $10 a day for eligible families.
“Preschools are extremely important not only in providing educational benefits for young children and preparing them for school, but also enabling parents to go back to work,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Providing high quality, low cost services that cater to the needs, interests and abilities of all children is really important to Council. We are one of the few councils that invest in preschools and we are committed to supporting our local families with affordable and accessible early education and care.
“This new preschool cements Council’s position as the largest not-for-profit provider of early childhood education services in Fairfield City.”
The preschool features an open-plan layout to encourage children to engage in multiple play-based learning stations across the entire centre rather than traditional classroom-based learning.
Council has close to 3,000 places at our Children’s Services, including:
- 14 centre-based Early Learning Centres (0-6years) with fees starting at just $10 a day.
- 10 supported playgroups
- A Family Day Care scheme with up to 60 educators providing education and care in a home-based environment.
- Fairstart Early Intervention, a registered provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), providing a number of early intervention supports including speech pathology and occupational therapy for children aged 0-12 years.
