Celebrations at Grandparents Day in 2015.

Fairfield City Council is encouraging all grandparents, their children and grandchildren to come and enjoy free family fun activities at Council’s Grandparents Day event on Sunday 6 November.

The event has become a special day for many local families and Council is proud to again host an event at Fairfield Park from 10am to 2pm.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said last year’s event attracted more than 2000 people.

“This year we have combined the Grandparents Day with the Children’s Week event because Fairfield City Council is all about supporting families and what better way to bring grandparents, their children and grandchildren together than to celebrate together,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Although we recognise and benefit every day from the incredible contribution of grandparents, Grandparents Day is our chance to honour and focus on their irreplaceable role in families and the wider community.

“The skills, life experience and wisdom of our older residents are invaluable to the younger generations and our future. Our living standard and opportunities open to each generation grow constantly and this is thanks to the hard work of those who have gone before us.

“Grandparents Day is an opportunity for families across the generations to invest some quality time with each other. I encourage all to come join us.”

Grandparents can enjoy free activities such as hand massages, singing, dancing and gentle exercise. There are also free activities for the younger generations to enjoy such as face painting, fun science and craft activities, Western Sydney Wanders soccer clinic, Play along with Sam performances and circus acts, to name a few.
