Fairfield Leisure Centre gym opens 24/7

The Fairfield Leisure Centre gym will operate 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week from Monday 1 February 2016.

The introduction of 24/7 access is in response to the changing needs of members, who have expressed the desire to have the gym hours extended.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said he was pleased to announce another Council initiative that aimed to make Fairfield City a better place for families to live.

“Fairfield Leisure Centre’s gym will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to accommodate all schedules,” Mayor Carbone said.

“We hope the extended hours will improve the convenience level for members by providing more windows of opportunity for workouts. This will accommodate members who prefer to work out late at night or early in the morning.

“As far as Council is aware, Fairfield Leisure Centre will be only one of a handful of local government non-franchise facilities in Australia to offer 24/7 access.”

The gym will be supervised by designated and qualified staff members during existing hours of operation (Monday to Friday 5.45am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday 6.45am to 5.45pm), but will be unsupervised during all other times, including public holidays.

Only those using member access cards will be able to access the gym from a designated entry point after hours.

Council is conscious of members’ safety, so CCTV cameras will monitor the premises after hours and emergency/duress buttons have been installed to call the necessary emergency services if needed.
