Fairfield City Council is encouraging businesses, schools and the community to get involved in this year’s Clean Up Australia Day activities.

There are different Clean Up Day events, starting with the Business Clean Up on Tuesday 1 March 2016.

Clean Up Australia Day says the Business Clean Up allows a business to promote a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. It’s also a fantastic way to be seen as a community leader and engage with staff, customers and the community.

The Schools Clean Up is on Friday 4 March 2016. Since 1992, school communities across Australia have demonstrated their support for caring for the environment through participating in Schools Clean Up Day.

Council has received notification of more than a dozen registered sites throughout Fairfield City for the main Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday 6 March. Every year the event inspires thousands of Australians to take to their local park, bushland and streets and really help to make a difference to their environment.

People can visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/join/ if they would like to volunteer at a site that has already been registered, or visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au for more information.

Council will assist large groups by providing additional bags and disposable gloves. A list of sites and more information will be listed at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/CleanUpAustralia once site registrations are finalised.
