Would you like to be a part of the real action at this year’s Cabramatta Moon Festival?

Fairfield City Council is calling for volunteers to help work behind the scenes to deliver another successful festival on Sunday 4 September.

The annual festival attracts more than 90,000 people each year and has become a feature event in NSW, attracting interstate and international visitors alike to experience the community’s much anticipated “red letter day”.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said volunteers had the opportunity to develop and explore their passions with event planning as well as building valuable networks within our community.

“This is your opportunity to get behind the scenes at our City’s largest festival,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Cabramatta Moon Festival is a unique event that involves months of planning and preparation. However, the key to delivering a successful event is the valuable contribution and efforts of volunteers, who essentially are crucial team members.

“Without the wonderful support of volunteers, festivals such as the Cabramatta Moon Festival would not happen.”

Volunteers can expect to develop a wide range of skills that they will be able take on to future work experiences, such as:

  • Working in a team environment
  • Event planning
  • Improved interpersonal skills
  • Communication
  • Time management
  • Leadership
  • Planning and prioritising
  • Problem solving
  • Organisational skills

“Gaining work experience is essential for employment and volunteering at an event of this scale will provide people with increased customer service and organisational skills,” Mayor Carbone said.

“This is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in working in the events industry or studying event management to gain worthwhile practical experience.

“Join the party, work behind the scenes and be part of the 2016 Cabramatta Moon Festival team.”

All volunteers are required to attend a compulsory briefing session and comply with Fairfield City Council’s Work, Health and Safety Regulations.
