New lift opens at Nelson Street Car Park

A new lift in the Nelson Street Car Park, in Fairfield City Centre, is now operational and will provide better ease of access for people using the car park.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone was joined by Deputy Mayor Milovan Karajcic and councillors Ninos Khoshaba and Lawrence White to open the lift on Thursday 30 June.

The lift was installed after council identified a need for shoppers to access all car park levels with their shopping trolleys via a lift.

Mayor Carbone said the lift provided many benefits, including allowing for better use of the car park, especially the upper levels, by visitors and residents.

“It will provide better access for shoppers and visitors to Fairfield City Centre and will be an added convenience, especially for the elderly, mothers with prams, and for people with disabilities who wish to park on the upper levels,” Mayor Carbone said.

The lift is conveniently located next to a main pedestrian link crossing through the car park, which connect to two existing shopping arcades, which also link to Ware Street to the west and Smart Street to the east.
