Christmas festivities light up Fairfield
Published Thursday, 17th November 2016
Christmas is just around the corner, so to get residents in the Christmas spirit Fairfield City Council has planned a host of fun activities throughout Fairfield City.
The festivities start on Thursday 1 December when Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone switches on the lights to the City’s Christmas tree in Epoch Plaza, on the corner of Station and Nelson streets in Fairfield City.
“Council’s annual Christmas event at Epoch Plaza will be fun for the whole family,” Mayor Carbone said. “From 6.30pm there will be a range of activities, including carols sung by local school students, roving entertainment, a petting zoo, balloonist and, of course, Santa will pay a visit to check on who’s been good.”
Christmas celebrations will also be held in Canley Vale, Canley Heights and Cabramatta.
The Canley Heights Children’s Christmas Party on Friday 2 December, supported by local businesses and Canley Heights Restaurant Committee, is a community favourite and always draws crowds.
"Council is also proud to host special Christmas storytimes, craft and babytime sessions at our libraries, as well as carols and craft events at Fairfield Museum and Gallery,” Mayor Carbone said.
“We also support a number of community events, such as the carols at Horsley Park Reserve and in Freedom Plaza, Cabramatta, on Saturday 10 December.
“And don’t forget our fantastic fireworks – Illuminate – on New Year’s Eve as nine (9) sites across the local government area simultaneously launch fireworks at 9pm. Fairfield City residents of will be able to view some spectacular fireworks from their very own backyards, no matter where they live.
“I encourage everyone to head out and enjoy the celebrations with friends and family.”
