City Museum and Gallery to host artist talk
Published Friday, 27th January 2017
Fairfield City Museum & Gallery will host renowned local artist Khaled Sabsabi in conversation with independent curator and editor of Artist Profile, Kon Gouriotis, on Saturday 25 February.
The pair will discuss Sabsabi’s solo exhibition Majority-Minority, currently exhibited at the City Museum & Gallery, as well as Sabsabi’s latest innovative practices and the driving force behind his choice of mediums.
Set to be a lively discussion that will offer insights into the personal experiences that have shaped Sabsabi’s socially-engaged practices, the talk will also reflect on the broader role the arts and cultural sector plays in Western Sydney, a region to which Sabsabi was awarded the inaugural Arts Fellowship in 2015.
Following the discussion, the audience will have the opportunity to ask Sabsabi and Gouriotis questions.
Those wishing to attend the free talk between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 25 February should RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 9725 0190 by Thursday 23 February. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
Sabsabi’s exhibition, now on display at Fairfield City Museum & Gallery, highlights the complexities of a migrant experience within Western Sydney, placing a particular focus on the multicultural Fairfield area.
Majority-Minority will remain on display until Saturday 29 April 2017.
