Extra parking for The Crescent in Fairfield

Fairfield City Council is meeting the community’s priority for more parking throughout the City.

Work has started on a total of 39 new spaces along The Crescent in Fairfield, between the Hamilton Road roundabout and Ware Street (near Fairfield Train Station).

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said this project would add to the more than 1,000 extra car parking spaces Council has created throughout the City in the past four years.

“More car parking is one of the Top 10 priorities outlined by residents in the 2016-2026 Fairfield City Plan,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Works along The Crescent will double the existing parking there. Council will also widen the footpath and plant some new trees.

“This is another example of Council working smarter with our existing resources to benefit the community. There will be some disruption while we undertake works, but there will be an ongoing long-term benefit over many years.”

Works are due for completion (weather permitting) in June.
