In partnership with local businesses and community groups, Fairfield City Council is hosting Lunch@Bibby’s, a celebration of Bonnyrigg’s multi-faith and multicultural communities.
The Mayor of Fairfield City, Frank Carbone, invites everyone to the exclusive street party on 13 May, 11am – 2pm, where visitors will experience the collective energy of the community , with cultural performances, tours at places of worship, and a variety of multicultural food stalls .
“Bibby’s Place is a very special street in Fairfield City,” said Mayor Carbone. “It’s a unique example of cultural harmony where businesses, residents, places of worship and community groups all harmoniously exist side by side in a single street.
“Lunch@Bibby’s is a celebration of this unity, where we can all come together to share and celebrate the rich and diverse cultures in the Bonnyrigg community.
“Families will enjoy this wonderful day out indulging in colourful cultural performances by Vietnamese, Laos, Turkish and Christian groups, authentic cuisines from many cultures and plenty of free children activities.
“Importantly, Lunch@Bibby’s is an opportunity to connect with neighbours, and learn about their culture and way of life,” said Mayor Carbone.
Council will also launch ‘The Spirit of Bonnyrigg Walk’ pamphlet at the event, a map of Bonnyrigg that takes you through some of the key places of interest around the town centre. The pamphlet covers all the places of worship in Bibbys Place as well as all the features of the Bonnyrigg Town Centre Park that includes the Bush Tucker path, Elders Garden and children’s playground.
Bonnyrigg’s diverse community perfectly illustrates the motto of the Bonnyrigg Town Centre, ‘All the world in one place’ and is one of Fairfield City’s growing cultural centres.
