Facelift for Janice Crosio Early Learning Centre

Children attending Fairfield City Council’s Janice Crosio Early Learning Centre (ELC) have a “new” outdoor learning space to enjoy after it was transformed with a $70,000 facelift.
The facelift included upgrading old brick paths to a new, concrete bike track, renewing the sandpit, renewing synthetic grass in play areas, and upgrading garden beds with new plants.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said the beautification of the outdoor learning space was planned in consultation with the community and ELC staff.
“The area has been transformed, so children can let their imaginations loose as they explore, discover and connect with nature and the outdoor environment,” Mayor Carbone said.
“The children can experience a wide range of activities, but most of all they can have fun while learning things such as sustainability as they plant and water the garden, engage with natural materials and help maintain our worm farm and compost bin.
“The children – and staff – are really keen and excited to be using and engaging with the new outdoor environment.”
Janice Crosio ELC, a multipurpose service offering care to children from two to five years, is part of Council’s Children and Family Services group. The service is rated Exceeding National Quality Standard (see http://www.acecqa.gov.au/national-quality-framework/assessments-and-ratings).
Council’s childcare services are staffed with qualified and caring educators who ensure children have the very best of care and education. Many of our staff speak two or more languages.
