The finishing touches to an upgrade of St Johns Park have been completed with the installation of new outdoor gym equipment.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said St Johns Park and surrounding suburbs now have a mini sporting and recreation precinct on their doorstep.
“The new outdoor gym equipment is Council’s finishing touch to the St Johns Park upgrade, which also includes renewal of four tennis courts, new pathways, seating and a shelter,” Mayor Carbone said.
“The new outdoor gym equipment is part of Council’s program to roll out gyms in parks across the City.
“St Johns Park also has a soccer field in winter and a cricket field in summer.
“There is something for everyone at St Johns Park whether as part of organised team sport, tennis, individual training and exercise, or walking and jogging.
“The upgrades make the park a more versatile sporting complex.
“St Johns Park also has mature trees, so there’s plenty of shade to watch a game or have a coffee and a chat with friends.
“I encourage residents to get out and use the facilities at St Johns Park.
“St Johns Park is another example of Council’s commitment to provide high quality facilities for Fairfield City residents.
“Council invests in and renews our parks and equipment to encourage our community to get out and about and be active and healthy with their families.”
