Mouth-watering menu at Culinary Carnivale

For those who love a barbecue, Fairfield City Council’s 7th annual Spanish and Latin American street party, Culinary Carnivale, has a feast in store for you on Saturday 21 October.
In Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, Asado is a popular traditional dish as well as the standard word for “barbecue” (except in Brazil, where it is more known as "churrasco").
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said: “It’s been so popular in the past that this year the 10m long barbecue returns. Delights such as beef and pork choripan (sausage) and ribs served with chimichurri (a spicy, garlicky parsley sauce) and cooked to perfection the South American way.
“The mouth-watering Asado will tantalise your tastebuds along with seafood paella, empanadas, arepas, tapas, tacos and tamales, and the famous South American sweets such as alfajores, caramel dulce de leche, churros (with chocolate dipping sauce) and gelato,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Culinary Carnivale has become a star attraction of the annual Good Food Month and has been described as “the best thing to do in Sydney in October”.”
Culinary Carnivale also has a first-class entertainment line-up for 2017, headlined by Australia’s iconic Indigenous performer, Christine Anu.
While diners savour the gastronomic delights, Brazilian dancers and Mexican singers will perform on stage to ensure a fun-filled family event for all.
The entertainment line-up includes:
• Uruguayan drumming and dancing of Comparsa Urumbe
• breathtaking dancing of the Latin Stars Samba Troops
• the traditional sounds of Sonido De Los Andes
• the ever popular Victor Valdes Y Su Mariachi
• dancers Tierra Colombiana
• musicians Los Pibes
• eclectic fusion artist Quetzal Guerrero
• awe-inspiring acrobatics of Dauntless Movement Crew
There will also be free amusement rides throughout the day in Ware Street, free mask making brought to you by Fairfield City Museum and Gallery and a prize giveaway at about 12.25pm at the performance stage of a water filter, donated by Filpure Water.
Entertainment and entry to Culinary Carnivale is free. Save the date, come to Spencer and Ware streets, Fairfield to enjoy La Vida Buena (good life) on 21 October from 11am to 4pm.
