John Stanley, co-host of Sydney Radio 2UE’s breakfast show, is Fairfield City’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2018.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said it was great to have an award-winning broadcaster of high regard as ambassador for Fairfield City.

“It is our pleasure to have Mr Stanley as our ambassador and visit our great City to help us celebrate our Australia Day awards and see residents take out Australian citizenship,” Mayor Carbone said.

John Stanley is a broadcaster and journalist who currently co-hosts the breakfast show on Sydney’s 2UE. He is also a regular panellist on the ABC TV Sunday morning sport show Offsiders.

He has worked in radio for nearly 40 years, having joined 2UE in 1988 as assistant program director and producer of the Breakfast show.

During the past two decades John has presented many shifts across 2UE including, Drive, Afternoons and Breakfast and in 2014, he received the title of “Radio Commentator of the Year” at the Kennedy Awards for Excellence in NSW Journalism.

This year is his 30th year as a prime time talk show host with 2UE and prior to that he was the Macquarie network’s national political correspondent in Canberra.

He is also a member of journalism’s Walkley Awards Advisory Board.

John will join Council for the Australia Day Community Awards event at Council’s Administration Centre on Thursday evening on 25 January.
