Spotlight shines on local youth at Bring It On! Festival

Thousands of people turned out on Sunday to take part in the biggest Youth Week event in NSW, the Bring It On! Festival presented by Fairfield City Council.

Headliner and winner of the 2014 X Factor competition, Marlisa, wowed the audience as she performed her number one hit Stand By You and a number of covers including The Beatles classic, Yesterday.

The Pioneers Mega Crew stunned crowds with their amazing skill and agility. This local crew, who train at the Street University in Liverpool recently competed at the 2014 World Hip Hop championships in La Vegas and displayed why they are one of the best crews in the world.

Other big name acts including With Confidence, Team 9Lives and Invincible Worldwide provided high energy entertainment to the crowds.

Throughout the day there was no shortage of entertainment across three stages and the Health, Career and Education Precinct interactive stalls and photo booths were a popular choice for festival goers.

Other festival highlights included the Silent Disco walking tours, Tricking workshops, the thrill and amusement rides in Adrenaland and the Bootcamp challenge.

Mayor of Fairfield City, Frank Carbone said “Bring It On! as part of the National Youth Week celebrations, allows youth of our City to celebrate their achievements and help to inspire them for the future. Allowing young people to shine a spotlight on the great things done by their peers is a great motivator.

“It is an event not only dedicated to music but also different interests including sports and recreational activities. We are very proud of the Bring It On! Festival. It is the largest Youth week event in NSW, which is an incredible achievement.” said the Mayor.

More than 150 young volunteers helped out on the day and worked closely with a range of community agencies building their skills in a range of disciplines.

Bring It On! is not only about providing entertainment for young people but is also aims to give opportunities to local youth. This year, a number of outstanding young people competed in band competitions, bootcamp challenges, dance battles and the Trick It On! Competition.
