Celebrating our seniors for Grandparents Day

Published Wednesday, 7th October 2015

Fairfield City will honour the incredible contribution of grandparents at a free event at Fairfield Adventure Park on Sunday 25 October from 11am to 2.30pm.

This family fun day, hosted by Fairfield City Council, will be an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a free sausage sizzle lunch, ice-creams and family friendly activities, all within the surrounds of the new Fairfield Adventure Park, one of the best playgrounds in South West Sydney.

NSW Grandparents Day celebrates the vital role grandparents play in our society, as custodians of individual and cultural memories and as providers of care and love to their children and grandchildren. Grandparents Day recognises the irreplaceable role grandparents have in their families and in the wider community.

Families are encouraged to bring along their chairs and picnic rugs and connect with the community as we acknowledge the important role grandparents play.

“The role of grandparents and seniors is vital not only for the community, but also for families,” Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said.

“The skills, life experience and wisdom of our older residents are invaluable and I appreciate and value the contributions senior citizens make to our community. I would encourage all families and grandparents to come and join the activities on October 25.”
