Fairfield City looks skyward for Illuminate
Published Monday, 4th January 2016
Fairfield City was illuminated on New Year’s Eve as South West Sydney came together to witness one of the biggest fireworks display the region has seen.
Illuminate, Fairfield City Council’s inaugural New Year’s Eve celebration, delivered fireworks from 11 locations across the City, launching simultaneously at 9pm.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said the event was a great success.
“Tens of thousands of residents viewed the fireworks show from numerous designated locations and from their own backyards,” he said.
“This event was the first of its kind in South West Sydney and I am proud to say it was a huge success, bringing the community together in one celebration across our City.
“There was no need to travel elsewhere for a great family night out this New Year’s Eve.
“The evening at Calmsley Hill City Farm was full of colour, with lights and entertainment such as amusement rides, children’s craft activities, roaming performers and food stalls.
“Families enjoyed all the activities the farm is famous for, such as the animal exhibits and whip cracking demonstrations.”
Illuminate was delivered in partnership with Fairfield community clubs. Fairfield City Council thanks the sponsors of Illuminate:
