Council waives green waste fee for storm debris

Published Monday, 18th January 2016

The severe storm that hit Fairfield City last Thursday (14 January) caused significant damage to trees and surrounding flora throughout the City.

This left a number of trees and branches littering the streets.

Council is continuing to inspect the City and is cleaning up debris as quickly as possible.

To help Fairfield City residents in the clean-up, Council will waive the applicable fee for leaving green waste at the Recycling Drop Off Centre this Saturday (23 January).

Council crews will also pick up large branches if they are left outside homes. Residents are asked to place large tree branches only into a separate pile on the kerbside and call Council on 9725 0222 to request pick-up.

The pile should be neat and tidy.

Residents can leave smaller tree branch material for free on Saturday 23 January at the Recycling Drop Off Centre, which is on the corner of Davis Road and Widemere Road, Wetherill Park. Between 8.30am and 3.30pm on Saturday, green waste can also be mulched for free.
