Lots to look forward to in the coming months

Congratulations to the newly elected and returning councillors from the September election.
We have plenty of activities and events to look forward to in the coming weeks. The popular ‘Design the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition’ is now open, we have a full program of free, family-friendly events lined up for Halloween and Christmas is a special time in our City with lots happening for everyone.

Enjoy two additional free kerbside pick-ups per year

We all want to live, work and play in a clean City - a City we can continue to be proud of as a place to raise a family and enjoy our environment. 

I’m pleased to let you know that from 1 September, 2024 you will be able to book in an extra two free kerbside pick ups per year, as part of a 12-month trial. Every household will get four free collections in the financial year at no extra cost.

One of my main priorities as Mayor has been to ensure local families can get out in the sunshine, get active and get healthy together. We have been working hard on some great new major recreational projects such as Avenel Fitness Park and Endeavour Park sports park for residents to use. The work has been prioritised so the playgrounds most in need are upgraded first.
