Drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic at Fairfield Showground extended
Published on 24 July 2020
Due to continued high demand for COVID-19 testing in our community, and ongoing confirmed cases of community transmission, the drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic at Fairfield Showground will continue this weekend and next week.
The testing clinic will be open from 9am-4pm Saturday and Sunday, and 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
The Fairfield Markets will again not be held this weekend, to give priority access to the drive-through testing clinic.
Drivers are instructed to follow directions of staff at the grounds, and present their licence and Medicare card. They will be tested without having to leave their car. Anyone in the vehicle can be tested, including children.
No referral is required for the FREE test.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone announced the extension of the Fairfield Showground testing clinic.
“The Fairfield Showground drive-through testing clinic has been one of our state’s most successful in terms of numbers attending and helping health authorities identify a number of COVID-19 cases,” Mayor Carbone said.
“It proves that continued testing is one of the strongest weapons we have against the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
“More than 10,000 people have been tested just over the past week and I would like to thank the people of Fairfield City for taking the call to get tested seriously. Now more than ever it is crucial that we remain vigilant, so we can stop the spread of the virus.
“If you have any symptoms, no matter how minor, please come and get tested. Together we will get through this.”
The Showground clinic is in addition to the drive-through testing clinic at the Fisher Street car park in Cabramatta. That clinic will run daily until Sunday, 2 August, 8am-7pm.
