The NSW Government through its e-planning initiatives now requires all Councils to implement and adopt the online application lodgement process through the recently established online NSW Planning Portal.

Because of the new legislative changes enacted by the NSW Government, local residents, businesses and developers will now be required to submit their applications electronically via the NSW Planning Portal. The portal can be found at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/Planning-and-Building.

While this service has been in operation since 1 July 2020, it will now become mandatory for all councils that all development applications are submitted via the Planning Portal commencing from 1 November. Fairfield City Council will no longer be accepting paper based applications as of 1 November 2020.

This will include the following applications:

  • Development Applications
  • Modification Applications
  • Complying Development Certificates
  • Construction Certificates
  • Occupation Certificates; and
  • Section 8.2 reviews

Council will continue to provide assistance and customer support to the residents of Fairfield as part of the adoption of the above new requirements.

Council does not determine development applications, due to previous changes to NSW Government legislation.

Please refer to Council’s website for additional information or call Council’s Customer Service Team on 9725 0222 for assistance.
