Wednesday 2 September is Early Childhood Educators' Day, and it is the perfect time to pay tribute to the hard working early childhood workers across our City.

Fairfield City Council employs 124 educators across our 14 early learning services, playgroups and early intervention projects, caring for and educating local children at a critical time in their learning.

The day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said our early learning centre staff are among Council’s most important employees.

“This Wednesday is a chance for all of us to say thank you to our early childhood educators, who work hard to provide an essential service to both our community and to our children,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Council’s 124 educators have been on the frontline throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring families and children are supported and able to access this essential service. Their efforts, particularly in the last six months, are appreciated.

“Our early learning centres not only provide invaluable education for our children, they also enable parents to return to work to support their families or continue with their own education.

“With 90% of the human brain developing in the first five years of life, our early learning educators play a crucial role in a child's cognitive, physical, emotional and social development.”
