A new 55 metre wave pool will be built at Aquatopia, bringing an exciting taste of the beach to Fairfield City.

The $12 million wave pool will feature surfable breaking waves, allowing locals to learn to surf as well as providing a fun and safe beach experience for families, without the need to travel long distances.

Surrounding the wave pool will be more shaded areas, with more cabanas, palm trees and umbrellas – recreating the beach environment. There will also be a covered stage area for outdoor events – including moonlight cinemas, as well as more bathrooms.

The existing car park will also be reconfigured as part of the construction.

The pool is being jointly funded by Fairfield City Council, and the Federal and State governments:

  •  Fairfield City Council ($6.4 million);
  • Western Sydney City Deal Liveability Fund ($5.6 million).

 Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the wave pool will be the ultimate way to stay cool in Fairfield City.

“Visiting the beach can be an expensive and long trip. This new wave pool brings the fun and excitement of the beach to the backyard of Fairfield City residents,” Mayor Carbone said.

“In just three years, Aquatopia has cemented itself as a must-visit for western Sydney families. It is the fun, affordable and safe way for families of all ages to stay cool and active in the warmer months.

“The extra large size of the pool and the addition of breaking waves means that visitors can do more than swim. They will be able to surf too, and Council will be providing opportunities for visitors to learn how to surf.

“I’m also glad that we will be providing even more of our popular cabanas for families to hire and enjoy. They are the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just relax together in the shade.

“This wave pool is yet another way we are making Fairfield City a great place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to seeing families enjoying our new wave pool in spring and summer 2021.”
