The State Government has released a Model Code of Meeting Practice for all NSW councils. Council has now revised its Code of Meeting Practice in line with the NSW Model Cn 14 October 2025, Council resolved to exhibit the draft Code of Meeting Practice in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.
Council is seeking your feedback on the draft Code of Meeting Practice.
Please note that Council can only amend or supplement non-mandatory provisions in the Code and any additional provisions must be consistent with the mandatory provisions (black font) outlined in the Model Code.
The non-mandatory provisions are shown in red font and provisions that are not in the Model Code but are recommended for adoption to ensure improved governance practices are shown in purple font.
The draft Code of Meeting Practice will be on public exhibition from Monday 20 October until Sunday 16 November 2025.
Following the exhibition period and the receipt of public comments up to Sunday 30 November 2025, the draft Code of Meeting Practice will be reported back to Council for final adoption.

Copies of all items on public exhibition are available on Council’s website www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au, at all libraries and in hard copy at Council’s Administration Centre 86 Avoca Road Wakeley (between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday). Comments are welcomed during the period of public exhibition and should be forwarded in a letter, addressed to The General Manager, Fairfield City Council, PO Box 21 Fairfield NSW 1860 or by sending an email to governance@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au.
