Thousands of Fairfield residents have been affected by the harsh COVID restrictions that have been imposed on our City.

Not only have we lost the ability to connect with our families and loved ones, many are now missing out on work due to the latest restrictions on leaving the area (unless an ‘authorised worker’) and the ban on construction across the city.

We want to make sure you get the support you need. These are no doubt difficult times for our community.

Due to a lot of confusion in the community I provide you with the following information:

If you are a business that has lost income: Go to Service NSW for business assistance grants - www.service.nsw.gov.au/covid-19-business-support-2021.

If you are an individual employee that has lost work due to the restrictions: go to Services Australia for disaster payments – www.servicesaustralia.gov.au.

If you are elderly or vulnerable and need assistance with getting supplies, and don’t have family, friends or community services to rely on, please go to our website to register for the Mayoral wellbeing register so we can connect you to support – www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au or phone 9725 0222.

There has been a lot of confusion around whether Fairfield residents can leave the area to work, with the Premier announcing first that only health and emergency services workers could leave the area to work, but then later providing an extensive list of ‘authorised workers’ that can leave the area to work.

If you are still confused about whether you are an authorised worker, there is a list at www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules/authorised-workers or phone 13 77 88.

I have been standing up for our community at every opportunity. I know everyone is doing their best to prevent the virus from spreading.

Please keep up the good work and hopefully we will see case numbers going down in the coming days. Let’s all work together, obey the health orders and together we will all come through this.
