The Draft 2021-2022 Operational Plan is now on public exhibition until 27 April, to allow local residents to have input into the projects, upgrades and financial expenditure for Council in the coming year.

The Operational Plan lists everything from major projects to footpaths and open spaces throughout the City. I encourage you to take the opportunity to have a look and give your feedback on the plan.

There are many things that Council funds through your rates that you might not know, including essential funding for the local Rural Fire Service, SES and street lighting.

Some of the major projects for the community include:

  • Completion of the Fairfield Showground Pavilion
  • Completion of the Community Business Hub in Fairfield City Centre
  • Off-leash dog areas at Brenan Park and Fairfield Heights
  • Refurbishment of the youth area at Whitlam Library
  • Upgrade of Nalawala facility for community hire

As well as these exciting projects, Council will continue to deliver quality services, including:

  • Upgrade to local roads ($12.8 million)
  • Renewal to buildings and facilities such as: community centres, childcare, car parks, libraries and leisure centres ($5.7 million)
  • Provision of new and upgraded footpaths ($3.55 million)
  • Upgrade to open spaces such as: parks and reserve amenities, sportsgrounds and play equipment ($2.55 million)
  • Reinvesting car park revenue ($656,000) into the Community and Infrastructure Priorities Program

We are doing this and a lot more while maintaining our strong financial position - with a budgeted operating surplus of $0.35 million in the next year - and keeping rates among the lowest in Sydney.

This year we have presented the Operational Plan in the form of an online map on our website, where you can click on your area and see what we have planned around you. You can like or dislike a project and make a comment directly online. It is a really easy way for you to see what we have planned, and provide your feedback.

You can view the draft Operational Plan here on Council's website. Physical copies can also be viewed at Council’s Administration Building, libraries and leisure centres.

Have your say by email, post or through the website.
