Help us make a difference this Christmas

Published on 07 November 2022

Christmas is a special time of the year that I look forward to most– as a celebration that the whole community can enjoy.

Last week I launched the ‘Mayor’s Christmas Appeal’ to help make Christmas a bit brighter for families and individuals experiencing hardship, and I encourage you to give what you can, however big or small.

The past couple of years have been a testing time for many families, and the need for support is greater than ever. Christmas is a time of giving, by donating to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal you are contributing to making Christmas a positive experience for families and individuals in need. I know the community of Fairfield is very generous and have always stepped up to support others when required.

You can make donations at any of our libraries or at Woolworths stores in the area. Donations can include non-perishable food items or new and unwrapped toys, and can be dropped off at our Bonnyrigg, Fairfield, Wetherill Park and Whitlam Cabramatta library branches, and at Woolies stores in Bonnyrigg, Cabramatta, Cecil Hills, Fairfield, Fairfield Heights, Green Valley, Greystanes, Pemulwuy, Toongabbie, Wentworthville and Wetherill Park.

Council will work with non-government organisations and charities to package and distribute the donations to families and individuals in need in time for Christmas.

Thank you to Woolworths Fairfield for being the first to donate three trolley loads of items towards the Appeal. We believe a kind gesture can go a long way and I know the Fairfield community will to donate to our Appeal too, and make this a memorable and meaningful Christmas for everyone.
