Mayor Carbone was first elected to Fairfield City Council in September 2008. He was popularly elected as the Mayor of Fairfield City in the 2012 and then again in the 2016 and 2021 local elections.

Mayor Carbone is a proud local who was born and raised in Fairfield. 

He ran a local business for almost 20 years and has worked closely with the people of Fairfield City to develop positive community and local business relationships.

During his time as Mayor, the Council has completed a number of significant building projects for the City:

  • Redevelopment of Fairfield Showground, an unused trotting track, to include AFL/cricket field and events arena, multipurpose amenities building, FIFA standard sportsfield, synthetic football pitch, pavilion, all-abilities playground, off-leash dog parks and walking/cycling paths
  • Upgrade of parks including Fairfield Adventure Park, Deerbush Park all-abilities playground, Koonoona Park
  • Construction and expansion of Aquatopia Water Park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre.
  • Construction of Fairfield Youth and Community Centre
  • A new library at Fairfield
  • A community hub and co-working/support space for local entrepreneurs and businesses
  • The construction of Dutton Lane Plaza and car parks.

Mayor Carbone is married to Gina and they have two young children.
