Fairfield Showground has been redeveloped into a modern sporting and cultural hub for high level sports, community cultural festivals and major events.

The redevelopment has opened the Showground up to the community by providing facilities and programs relevant to the community while being regional significant.  

Fairfield Showground Pavilion

The Master Plan for the redevelopment of Fairfield Showground inlcuded the delivery of a new Grandstand for the elite football field which was delivered as part of Stage 1 of the redevelopment works.

The Fairfield Showground Pavillion was partially state government funded and partially funded by Fairfield City Council. The facility provides an enhanced match day experience for players, spectators and event directors.

Deerbush Park

Deerbush Park Playground was officially opened on Sunday, 13 June 2021. The all abilities playground introduces play equipment for all abilities, splash pad and an exeloo building, walking paths and outdoor gym equipment. 

Additional highlights to Deerbush Park include a Liberty Swing, wheelchair-accessible carousel, ground-level trampoline, awning and an Exeloo exeloo public bathroom with a change table that can be raised and lowered.

A ground-level ropes course, flying fox, water play space with squirters and dumping buckets, riding track, climbing net fort with slide, accessible riverbed crossing, water pump, sand digger, picnic tables and bench seating, voice tubes, trees and landscaping have been included, providing a range of activities for children of all ages and abilities.

Commemorative Pavers

The Showground 'Walk of Memory" and Signage Suite allowed residents of the Fairfield LGA to purchase a paver/s, to recognise the residents of Fairfield, past and present, that have contributed to the Community. 

The signage suite around the Fairfield Showground provides the public with easy wayfinding around the site.

The installation of the pavers was completed in the duration of 3 weeks.

People's Globe

The People's Globe, located in the geographical centre of Fairfield, celebrates the people of Fairfield and their richness in cultural heritage. 

The emblem wall recognises the many backgrounds and ancestry of our people, whilst the bronze ground inlays acknowldge the distances our residents have travelled to settle here.

The Kugell Ball arrived by sea, in May 2020 and installation was completed in 6 months.

Amenities Building

Part of the Fairfield Showground redevelopment scope, included the construction of a multipurpose amenities building. 

The building includes solid core doors, kitchen fitout, landscaping, change rooms, stage extension and Aramax roofing.

The completion of the structure was achieved in May 2020.

 

 

 

Fields and Festival Arena

The redevelopment of the Fairfield Showground sporting fields commenced in 2018 and was completed in December 2020.

Landscaping works was incorporated to surrounding areas enhancing the earthworks, pavements and irrigation systems. The Synthetic football field and Southern access pathway allows pedestrians easier access along footpath around the site.
