Council is proposing to implement traffic treatments at the intersection of Gladstone Street and McBurney Road (roundabout) to improve the safety of road users. The proposal comprises of the following:
- Modifying the mountable roundabout and its lane width;
- Widening the existing splitter islands on three approaches to the roundabout and constructing new kerb ramps to facilitate pedestrians crossing at the intersection;
- Installing regulatory signs including roundabout and “Keep Left” signs at the intersection. Since there is an existing roundabout already at the intersection, there would be no loss of on-street parking spaces with this proposal; and
- Converting the existing double barrier lines on Gladstone Street and McBurney Road to painted medians to improve delineation.
Council is seeking comments from the affected stakeholders regarding the proposal. Submissions in writing either by way of support or objection must reach Council by Friday, 13 January 2023. Should you wish to make a submission regarding the proposal, please email your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail them to Council at PO Box 21, Fairfield NSW 1860.
