Council last night adopted the draft plans which outline works Council will undertake over the next four years. These plans are available for comment and we want to know your thoughts.

Over the past four years Council has delivered major investments in infrastructure that includes 1,000 new car park spaces and encouraged an active lifestyle for families by building some of the best Parks in South West Sydney, including the Fairfield Adventure Park and Aquatopia.

We are committed to maintaining a strong financial position, by continuing to deliver a surplus budget and keeping our rates among the cheapest in Sydney.

Council is continuing to invest in our City, with too many projects to mention. Please visit the website to view what the Council has planned for the next four years.

Exciting projects proposed include the transformation of the Fairfield Showground into a premier location which brings the community together for festivals, events and sporting activities. Aquatopia will be expanded, Dutton Plaza car park capacity will be increased, expanding the Fairfield Library and a new major family attraction in the City is planned.

Council will also invest $51million to upgrade 78km of road, which includes Smithfield Road from two lanes to four lanes, as well as improving intersections, bike paths and 46km of new and upgraded footpaths.

You have told us that you wanted better community places and parks, so we are continuing to invest in our parks and will install more circuit walking paths and gyms in our parks.

You also wanted a cleaner City so we are planning on increasing funding for street cleaning services by $1million.

These are just a few of the projects and services that form part of our delivery plan.

I encourage you to visit and have your say during the exhibition period from Friday 31 March to 5 May and help shape the future of Fairfield City.

Council's flagship Youth Week event, Bring It On! Festival, will return to Fairfield Showground on Sunday 9 April, 10.30am-7.30pm and I encourage everyone to head along and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
