Remembering the fallen on Anzac Day

Next Tuesday, Australians will gather at RSL clubs, war memorials and elsewhere to remember those who have served our country in wars and peace keeping missions. In particular, we will remember those who fought and died at Gallipoli – the first Anzacs who

Back then Fairfield's population was about 9,000. The area resembled a small country town, with dirt streets, scattered houses, farms, shops and hotels. Some  373 soldiers from our area served during World War I, 38 died, including three at  at Gallipoli - Thomas Sinclair, Edgar Alec Soper and Lyle (Evered) Hodges.
On Anzac Day, will be paying my respects to all our Anzacs at Cabra Vale Diggers Dawn Service and later at Canley Heights RSL.
We are grateful to those who helped preserve our nation and our way of life through their sacrifice. In doing so, we keep bright the memory of those lives. It is in the remembrance of these people that communities across the nation come together on Anzac Day.

Aquatopia free this Sunday to celebrate its success

This is your last chance to discover or revisit Fairfield City's fantastic Aquatopia Waterpark before it closes for the season. To celebrate Aquatopia's outstanding success, entry will be FREE this Sunday, the last day of the season, once you have paid entry to the Prairiewood Leisure Centre.
Aquatopia will open every day this week, up to and including this Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm. This is the last chance for families to enjoy the facility's 10m high giant slides and adventure aqua tower before it closes down for the winter months.
Almost 40,000 people have visited Aquatopia since it opened in December. I am delighted the centre has been such a success for our city and our region. We look forward to re-opening next season with the arrival of the new Stingray Surf Rider.
Prairiewood Leisure Centre is on Prairie Vale Road Prairiewood.
